Matt Smith is Head of Operational Asset Management at Moorfield, bringing over 20 years of experience across the UK’s Private Rented Sector (PRS) and Build to Rent (BTR) markets. In this role, Matt is responsible for shaping and overseeing operational strategies that enhance asset performance, resident experience, and long-term value across Moorfield’s residential portfolio.
Matt joined Moorfield following a senior leadership career at Allsop Letting and Management (ALM), where he served as Chief Executive Officer after initially joining the business as Director of Asset Management. During his tenure, he led the operational mobilisation and stabilisation of large-scale multifamily and single-family rental schemes across England and Scotland, covering the full residential asset lifecycle from site mobilisation and lettings through to long-term operational optimisation.
His experience includes the delivery and management of landmark schemes such as The Vox and The Trilogy in Manchester, Duet at Salford Quays, The Lark in Nine Elms, and major portfolios for institutional investors including Packaged Living, Goldman Sachs and Kennedy Wilson. Matt is highly regarded for aligning operational delivery with investor and developer objectives, ensuring that commercial strategies drive both resident satisfaction and sustainable performance.
Throughout his career, Matt has worked closely with investment, development, and capital markets teams to integrate robust financial modelling, market insight, and best‑in‑class operational practices into asset strategies.
